The 33rd KCYM state annual senate concluded at Trivandrum with the election of office bearers for the 2011 activity year. The senate that began on January 6, 2011, discussed the various relevant socio-political issues prevalent in the state and nation. In the senate that spanned for four days 250 youth leaders from 30 catholic dioceses in Kerala participated and discussed various topics.
On the third day of the state annual senate leaders of Kerala Catholic Youth Movement staged a protest and Rajbhavan March against corruption and price hike of essential commodities. The Rajbhavan march was inaugurated by Deepak Cherkkot, State President KCYM. Fr.Jaison Kollannur, KCYM State Director, Fr.Paul Sunny, Director, KCYM Trivandrum Latin Arch Diocese, Mini Mary, President of KCYM Trivandrum Major Arch Diocese and former state office bearers Joseph Thomas, Sony Pavelil addressed the gathering. The members also took an oath to eradicate corruption, poverty and other social evils prevalent in the society and nation.
Later on the same day the annual report and annual accounts of the KCYM state committee was presented by Johnson Sooranad, KCYM state general secretary and Tittu Thomas, KCYM State Treasurer. Following the reporting session various resolutions were presented and a discussion on organizational activities were held.
On the concluding day of the senate, the newly appointed Chairman for KCBC Youth Commission, Bp. Joseph Pandarasseril, addressed the youth leaders in the state senate. The senate officially welcomed the bishop to the youth movement. The senate also honored the newly wedded couples Deepak Cherkkot (KCYM State President) and his wife Deepthi, and Jomy Joseph (MIJARC Representative) and his wife Mary Greeta. The senate also expressed its reverence for Jomon Thomas Vellapally who was elected as the Asian President of FIMCAP. Later the senate concluded with the election of office bearers for the activity year 2011.
