Bp. Joseph Pandarasseril Elected as KCBC Youth Commission Chairman

Bp. Joseph Pandarasseril, (Auxiliary Bishop, Archdiocese of Kottayam,) was elected as the new Chairman for the KCBC Youth Commission. He replaces, Bp. Vincent Samuel, Bishop of Diocese of Neyyattinkara, the former Youth Commission Chairman. The new Chairman for Youth Commission was elected in the KCBC meeting which was held at POC, Ernakulam.

Bp. Pandarasseril was born on April 18, 1961 at Ettumanoor, Kottayam. He completed his philosophical and theological studies at St. Joseph's Pontifical Seminary, Mangalore and was ordained a priest on December 28, 1987. He studied Canon Law at Santa Croce University in Rome and took Licentiate Degree in 1995. He was consecrated bishop on October 28, 2006.

Bp. Dr. Joseph Kariyil, (Bishop, Diocese of Kochi) and Bp. Dr. Thomas Mar Anthonios, (Curial Bishop of Syro Malankara Church) were elected as the Vice Chairman of the Youth Commission.

KCYM UTSAV-2010 Concludes Flamboyantly

UTSAV-2010, the state youth festival of Kerala Catholic Youth Movement concluded at Mananthavady on December 5th. Arch Diocese of Trivandrum secured the first position in the arts festival which was conducted on December 4th and 5th. Prizes for the winners were distributed by Fr. Mathew Madapallikunnel, Vicar General of Diocese of Mananthavady.

The hosts, KCYM Diocese of Mananthavady secured the second position in the youth festival in which more than 600 youth from different catholic diocese in Kerala contested. The third and fourth position was secured by KCYM Diocese of Tellicherry and KCYM Diocese of Kothamangalam.

In the youth festival that spanned for two days, Lydia Sebastian from Arch Diocese of Trivandrum and Bibin Antony from Diocese of Thamaraserry were elected as Kalathilakam and Kalaprathibha (individual champions) respectively.

Splendid Start for UTSAV at Mananthavady

The state youth festival of Kerala Catholic Youth Movement (KCYM) officially began at Mananthavady on December 4th. The arts fest, which is conducted with an aim of developing and promoting the talents of the youth, was inaugurated by M. A. Shanavas, MP of Wayanad Constituency.

UTSAV 2010, which is hosted by KCYM Diocese of Mananthavady, began in a splendid manner with the hoisting of KCYM tri color flag, which was done by Mareena Rincy, KCYM State Secretary. In the evening when the competitions for the day one were concluded, the public meeting and official inauguration of UTSAV 2010 took place.

Johnson Sooranadu, KCYM State General Secretary delivered the welcome address for the public meeting, in which Deepak Cherkkottu, KCYM State President presided. Fr. Jaison Kollannur, KCYM State Director delivered the introductory address, while Mar. Jose Perunnedam, Bishop, Diocese of Mananthavady and Mar. Joseph Mar Thomas, Bishop, Diocese of Bathery delivered the benedictory address and key note address respectively.

K. L. Paulose, President, District Panchayath, C. Abdul Asharaf, President, Mananthavady Block Panchayath, Fr. Sunny Kollarthottam, Director, Diocese of Mananthavady, Sajin Jose Chalil, President KCYM, Diocese of Mananthavady and Jose Pallath, MIJARC Solidarity Committee Member felicitated the program. Liji kalarikkal, KCYM State Syndicate Member from Diocese of Mananthavady delivered the vote of thanks for the meeting.

The public meeting was followed by variety entertainment programs including a fusion dance, which was performed by Asianet Vodafone Thakadhimi winner Jobin George and members Jobz and Sabz School @ Dance.

KCYM State Youth Festival to Begin at Mananthavady Tomorrow

‘UTSAV-2010’, the state youth festival of Kerala Catholic Youth Movement will begin at Dwaraka Sacred Heart’s Higher Secondary School, Mananthavady on December 4th. The youth festival where participants from 30 catholic dioceses in Kerala contest in different competitions will conclude on December 5th.

In the youth festival that aims at developing the artistic talents in the youth will be hosted by KCYM Diocese of Mananthavady. The diocesan committee under the leadership of Fr. Sunny Kollarthottam, Director of KCYM, Diocese of Mananthavady has made magnificent arrangements for welcoming the participants of UTSAV-2010 to their diocese.

The opening ceremony of UTSAV-2010 will begin in a splendid manner here in Mananthavady with Deepak Cherkkottu, KCYM State President hoisting the tri color KCYM flag. The competitions are scheduled to begin at 9 AM on December 4th. Various committees are in the final preparations for the UTSAV-2010. The youth festival will be concluded with a public meeting followed by a prize distribution ceremony on the 5th evening.
