KCYM State Convention to Begin at Thodupuzha

The 32nd state convention of Kerala Catholic Youth Movement or KCYM will officially begin on November 12th, 2010 at Thodupuzha. The state convention will be hosted by Yuvadeepthi-KCYM Diocese of Kothamangalam.

The convention, which highlights the theme ‘Developed Nation through Zealous Youth’, will begin 4 PM on 12th November with various processions from Diocese of Idukki, Archdiocese of Verapoly and Diocese of Palai. The convention will officially begin by the flag hoisting ceremony, in which the KCYM tricolor will be hoisted by Anitha Andrew, KCYM State Vice President.

On November 13th, the second day of the convention, there will be a public rally and demonstration, in which more than 50,000 youth from the 30 catholic dioceses in Kerala are expected to participate. Msgr. Thomas Malekudi, Vicar General for the Diocese of Kothamangalam will flag off the public rally at 2 PM. The public meeting in which Deepak Cherkot, KCYM State President will preside will begin when the public rally reaches the Municipal Ground. Fr. Jaison Kollannur, KCYM State Director will deliver the introductory speech in the meeting which will be inaugurated by Vayalar Ravi, Hon. Central Minister for Overseas Affairs.

In the public meeting, Bp. Joshua Ignathous, KCBC President will deliver the key note address while Bp. George Punnakkattil, CBCI Vice President and Bishop of Diocese of Kothamangalam will deliver the benedictory address. P.T. Thomas MP, P.J. Joseph MLA, ICYM General Secretary Joice Mary Antony, Royson Kuzhinjalil, President, KCYM Diocese of Kothamangalam, Dr. Joseph Kochuparambil, Director, KCYM Diocese of Kothamangalam, Sunny Kaduthazhe, Former KCYM State President and Fr. Jose Monipilly will deliver address the gathering.

The state convention will conclude on November 14th with the meeting of selected representatives from the 30 dioceses in Kerala. On the last day of the convention KCBC Youth Commission Chairman Bp. Vincent Samuel will offer the Holy Mass and deliver his message.
